Some love stories are written in starlight. For Jillian and Chuck, theirs came to life on a warm June day at Sparacio's Maple Valley Farms in a celebration that was unique, joyful, and intentional down to the smallest detail.
Chuck and Jillian describe each other simply as soulmates, and it shows. They are full of life, quick to laugh, and happiest with their people gathered close. They chose this family-run barn venue in the farm country of Cumberland County, for reasons every couple will appreciate: it was close to home, had the space they needed, allowed early setup, and fit their budget. What they created inside it was anything but ordinary.
A Love Story Shaped by Romantasy
Like readers around the world, Jillian fell hard for romantasy, the genre behind A Court of Thorns and Roses and Fourth Wing. What drew her in was the heart of those stories: strength, wit, perseverance, and finding love when the world feels dark.
When Chuck proposed, he made her a promise. Their wedding would not have to follow anyone's expectations, not even the white dress.
Shadow, Silver, and a Splash of Color
The design borrowed its palette from the night sky. Black linens and midnight-blue signage set a moody, sophisticated foundation. The wedding party wore soft greys and silvers, like stars against the dark. Bright accents nodded to Velaris, the art-filled hidden city of the Night Court, keeping the look festive rather than somber.
Jillian began the day in a striking black gown with a custom hooded cape in deep Night Court tones. It was romantic, dramatic, and entirely her.
An Arch Built by Her Father
The ceremony's centerpiece was a gift. Jillian's father surprised her with a hand-built arch crowned by three mountain peaks, a quiet echo of the Night Court's sigil of a mountain beneath three stars. Engraved across it: "To the stars who listen, and the dreams that are answered."
Beneath it, the couple's children stood at their sides while both wedding parties looked on from their seats.
The Bride’s Surprise Only a Few Knew About
This is the moment we will carry with us. Chuck had promised Jillian she never had to wear white. What he didn't know was that his steady, secure love had changed her heart. Just before the ceremony, Jillian slipped away and changed into a classic white gown to walk down the aisle to him.
"He's the only man that could make me feel confident in wearing a white dress again," she shared.
Only a handful of people knew. The change lived quietly in our timeline, and we protected it all day so the reveal belonged to Chuck alone.
Traditions, Rewritten
Even the order of the day was rewritten. Jillian and Chuck began with a first look, portraits, and private vows, then shared their cake cutting and a bubble exit with their wedding party, all before a single guest arrived. Those quiet minutes let the newlyweds soak it all in.
Then guests sat down to dinner first, raised a glass with toasts on the lawn, and only then gathered for a candlelit 7 PM ceremony, followed by an outdoor cocktail hour. Everyone returned into the barn to enjoy the reception celebration in party mode, including viral dances from Jillian and her daughter Kaelyn, who cut her junior bridesmaids dress for the reception!
Jillian's dad, affectionately known as "Bunky," wasn't eager for a traditional parent dance. So she handed him a baseball glove, and the two played catch in front of their guests. It was a sweet nod to years of backyard memories, especially since Jillian became a “baseball mom” to her son, Blake.
That creative flow is exactly why Jillian & Chuck knew they needed a coordinator. The barn transformed from dinner to ceremony to reception in a single evening, with every chair, table, and lantern moved while guests mingled outside. Each flip had to happen quietly and on cue so the celebration never lost its momentum.
Where Belmont Events Came In
About three months before the wedding, Jillian, a confident planner in her own right, was juggling RSVPs, vendor questions, and timeline revisions. As fellow romantasy readers, we understood her vision from the very first conversation, so she could hand off the details and simply be present. When wind and summer heat arrived on the day, cold water and air-conditioned breaks kept everyone comfortable, and Jillian got to enjoy the wedding she had dreamed up and planned herself.
In her words, Belmont Events let her truly enjoy the wedding she planned and envisioned. That is exactly what day-of coordination is for.
